Currency and payments in the UK
As you will know the currency in the UK is Pound Sterling . If you are paying by Debit or Credit card some establishments will offer you the option to pay in your local currency if your card issuer allows your card to do so.
If you have visited the UK before and may have some old currency you will bring please check the
Bank of England website link which will show you current notes and coins in circulation and also those that have been withdrawn , if you have older currency this can sometimes be exchanged at Banks or you can visit the Bank of England and they will exchange it for you
